Implant Work
Implants deliver a similar result to crown and bridge but are typically prescribed when you have no teeth deemed suitable to act as the support for the bridge. The unit is affixed directly to your jaw using an implanted screw mechanism. The manufacturing process is also similar to crown and bridge, but we always recommend the use of titanium implants to ensure bio-compatibility and complete osseo-integration. This is another of titanium's remarkable properties, which is the fact it will ossify over time, physically becoming one with human bone. This is why it is used for most medical implants of plates, bolts, screws and more complicated mechanical devices such as vascular pumps and heart valves. It is not unusual to be referred to an Oral Surgeon or Specialist Prosthodontist for implant work, but it is often performed by an experienced dental surgeon if no complications are anticipated.
