Full and Partial Dentures

Your dentist may prescribe a denture to replace a single tooth, a number of teeth or an upper or lower full set, hence the term full and partial. We manufacture the denture to the specifications provided by your dentist using a range of different of materials. The starting point for the laboratory is with the dental impression or model provided by your dentist. The final product will combine those materials that best suit your anatomy, your smile and your budget.  The most popular combinations are acrylic reinforced by a frame cast in chrome or titanium (see picture), or producing the denture in acrylic with metal attachments to secure it in your mouth. The appliance 'clips' into the correct position using existing healthy teeth as 'anchors' helping you to regain the enjoyment of mealtimes. The technical term for a denture is a 'removable prosthetic device' and if well made should be comfortable, fit securely and only be removable when you choose!

The Manufacturing Process

The process starts with receiving a dental impression from your dentist. A model is fashioned from wax to replicate your gums and appropriately sized teeth are set into the wax. This creates a wearable model for your first ‘try-in’ to determine the fit and function of the denture. The wax model is returned to us then coated with investment material and a mould is made. This is placed, complete with the teeth selection, in a ‘boil-out bath’ to remove the wax. It mould is then filled with acrylic and processed under compression. Porcelain or acrylic teeth are chosen to best represent your ideal from a range of ‘tooth cards’ held in stock by the lab. You will be guided in the important choice of size, type and colour by your dentist. Upper and lower articulated models are then used to ensure that the ‘bite’ is accurate so guaranteeing a comfortable and effective prosthesis.

We carry extensive stocks of 'full sets' of teeth in acrylic and porcelain ensuring the best aesthetic reproduction to suit your oral anatomy. Your dentist will provide help and direction in the final choice, and we are qualified to provide assistance in colour and shade if requested. The end result will be a smile to make you proud and confident in all situations.
