NobelProcera Optical Scanner

Dentistry was revolutionised in the 1980's by the Procera system of biocompatible prosthetics. The new world of CAD/CAM dentistry with optical scanning technology represents the next generation for prosthetics compared to conventional casting techniques. Sydney Oral Design is one of the first laboratories in Australia to perfect and utilise this cutting edge technology from Nobel Biocare .

With production facilities and innovation centres in Sweden, Canada and Japan, the system's new optical scanning and on-line data transmission capacity ensures the prompt production and dispatch of a superior quality of coping. Using the revolutionary technique of 'conoscopic holography' for improved data acquisition, scanning accuracy and versatility, the technology is a system designed by technicians to be used by technicians. With both crowns and bridges available in Zirconia and Alumina, the end result is an individualised solution that is superior to other ceramic systems or conventional restorations.

The process runs as follows :

Dentist - Conventional crown and bridge preparation and impression routines for the proposed restoration

Laboratory - Scans the impression with NobelProcera optical scanner and CAD software. The digital restoration is sent as a design/data package via the internet to the relevant production facility

Nobel Biocare - Use of advanced milling strategies to produce a precision framework that is then shipped back to the dental laboratory

Laboratory - The 'ready to use' framework is finished and polished before veneering layers are applied so the restoration becomes a perfect match for the patient's adjacent teeth

Dentist - The clinician will either cement or screw the received finished product in the prepared patient restoration

Fifteen years of cumulative clinical experience and research have demonstrated the long-term success and efficacy of NobalProcera individualised solutions and the benefits of the largest digital dentistry network in the world. Once again the future of dentistry is being embraced by Sydney Oral Design, and the service is offered to all clients today.
